Easy level
Perfect for complete beginners. An accessible line that introduces you to the monkey bridges, the footbridge and the zip-line at a gentle, progressive pace.
With the option to add a Night on the Wall
Just 5 minutes from the village of Mostuéjouls, the Liaucous via ferrata climbs a south-facing limestone wall within a striking rock amphitheatre. Three hours of equipped adventure: rungs, a footbridge, monkey bridges and a zip-line (optional) follow one another in a listed landscape. Accessible from age 8, the route adapts to your level — Florian fine-tunes the difficulty in real time to suit the group. And the combo is what makes it special: on the very same wall you can add a Night on the Wall, suspended in a portaledge.
The equipped Liaucous route offers 3 hours of vertical adventure in complete safety — footbridge, rungs, monkey bridges and a zip-line (optional) flow one after another on the south wall. Guided by Florian, from age 8.
At Liaucous you can follow the afternoon via ferrata with a night suspended in a portaledge — a bivouac platform anchored to the wall, tens of metres above the ground.
Florian hands out your full kit and briefs the group on the route.
3 hours on the equipped route — footbridge, rungs, monkey bridges, zip-line (optional).
Summit reached — views over the Tarn Gorges, photos, debrief on the spot.
Descent, packing away the gear, end of the outing.
Rigging the portaledges suspended from the cliff.
Settled into your portaledge, you take in the sunset facing the Gorges.
You sleep in your portaledge, suspended tens of metres above the void.
The sun floods the wall as you wake, then a relaxed descent.
Made of 2 cables: 1 for your hands and 1 for your feet.
1 footbridge midway along the route.
1 zip-line, 80 m long, at the end of the route (optional).
You can finish your vertical outing on an 80 m zip-line (optional) while soaking up the magnificent landscape overlooked by the Causse de Sauveterre.
Perfect for complete beginners. An accessible line that introduces you to the monkey bridges, the footbridge and the zip-line at a gentle, progressive pace.
A more committing line that takes in La Poire, the signature section at Liaucous. A few overhanging, more athletic stretches — for those who want to push a little further.
5 minutes from Le Rozier and the village of Mostuéjouls. Free parking on site, meeting point given when you book.
Guided by Florian (State-certified instructor) + gear included (helmet, harness, lanyard with shock absorber and a pulley for the zip-line). Reduced rates for groups, plus the Via Ferrata + Night on the Wall combo available at the same site.
"Liaucous is one of my favourite sites. It's also where I run the Night on the Wall, suspended in a portaledge. For the via ferrata on its own, it's one of the most complete routes in the region — it has it all: the rungs, the big footbridge, the monkey bridges, the zip-line. And above all, the view over the Tarn Gorges from the top."
All safety gear is provided (helmet, harness, lanyard with shock absorber and a pulley for the zip-line). On your side, bring:
Flexible clothing + closed trainers (no flip-flops)
Lightweight, to carry your things along the route
Per person minimum, especially in summer
A small energy snack for the break
Or hat, against the sun under the helmet
Cheque, cash, holiday vouchers, PayPal or Wero
No — a normal level of fitness is enough. The route lasts around 3 hours with natural breaks at the technical sections. You just need to be comfortable climbing ladders and walking across the footbridge. Florian adjusts the difficulty to the group: there are both easier and more committing variations.
From age 8 or 1.20 m tall: meeting just one of these two conditions is enough to sit safely in the harness. Liaucous is a great family site — children love the big footbridge and the final zip-line. Teenagers and adults get their fill too, thanks to the more committing variations.
The combo starts at €180/person: the private via ferrata in the afternoon, followed by an evening on the wall at sunset. To spend the full night suspended in a portaledge, allow €230 (1 person) / €320 (2 people) — specialist gear included (comfort harness, bivouac lanyard, sleeping bag).
A Big Wall package is available on quote for those who want to go further (big walls). Details on the Nights on the Wall page.
Free parking is available in the hamlet of Le Liaucous, a 5-minute walk from the starting point. GPS coordinates are given when you book. From Millau, allow 30 min by car (D907); from Montpellier, 1 h 40.
Light rain or wind aren't a problem. In the event of a storm, however, the outing is cancelled and rescheduled free of charge where possible.
All safety gear is provided: helmet, harness, lanyard with shock absorber (fall-arrest kit), carabiners and a pulley for the zip-line (inspected, certified PPE).
You bring: closed shoes (trainers or approach shoes, no flip-flops), sportswear, 1 L of water, energy bars, a cap and sun cream. A small backpack is handy for the approach walk.
On a via ferrata, Florian guides up to 10 people per outing. For a larger group, we arrange several time slots — get in touch and we'll adapt.
