The next step in your introduction

Pas de Soucy — your second climbing session

Just 20 minutes from Le Rozier, the Pas de Soucy crag is ideal for a second or third session of climbing. The rock rises to 12 m, with 5–6 routes from grade 4 to 5A, climbed on top-rope. It isn't a first-time introduction, but the logical next step: you deepen the basics (knots, belaying, movement) in a reassuring setting.

Key objectives

  • Optimise your movement Precise foot placement, balance and fluidity
  • Reinforce your technique Moving on slabs and small overhangs, managing effort
  • Develop route reading Anticipate the line and pick the right strategy over the pitch
  • Work on the mental side Coming to terms with difficulty and the fear of heights

Format: a session of technical drills on top-rope, on routes suited to your level, with a personalised debrief. Ideal for consolidating the basics after a first introduction.

The techniques we work on

Technical skills

Three techniques at the heart of this second session — Florian explains them, demonstrates them and corrects you in real time on the rock.

Tying in with a figure-eight knot

Tying in

Learning two ways of tying in. The figure-eight knot: simple, secure and quick to check. The bowline: more technical to tie, but stays easy to undo.

Top-rope belaying

Top-rope belaying

You climb on top-rope: the rope runs through an anchor at the top of the route, and the belayer holds it and locks off at the slightest sign of tiredness. No falls — the climber is always held, ideal for building confidence.

Screwgate safety carabiner and belay device

The carabiner and the quickdraw

The screwgate carabiner locks off the key points; the quickdraw connects the rope to the anchor points on the route. You learn to handle them and clip cleanly.

Frequently asked questions — Pas de Soucy

What level do I need for Pas de Soucy?

It's a second or third session: you climb routes from grade 4 to 5A on top-rope, to deepen the basics. Ideally after a first introduction at La Muse, but not essential — Florian adapts, and you don't need to be able to climb independently.

From what age?

From age 7. It's ideal for a second session after a first introduction, but Florian adapts to each climber.

What exactly do we work on?

The next step of the introduction, to go deeper: tying in (figure-eight knot + bowline), top-rope belaying, and handling carabiners and quickdraws. We also work on route reading and confidence on suitable routes (grade 4 to 5A).

Is the gear provided?

Yes, Florian provides all the equipment (certified PPE): helmet, harness, climbing shoes, lanyards, belay device, ropes. You don't need to bring anything — just tell us your shoe size when you book.

How long does the session last?

Allow 3.5 hours on site: technical briefing, drills, sport routes and intro multi-pitches. Florian always finishes with a personalised debrief to identify the points to work on as you continue climbing.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Light rain or wind aren't a problem. In the event of a storm, however, the outing is cancelled and rescheduled free of charge where possible.

What's the maximum group size?

Florian guides up to 10 people per outing. For a larger group, we set up several time slots — get in touch and we'll adapt.
