Rock climbing and via ferrata can look intimidating. That's normal. To help you come along with confidence, here's a simple overview of the gear Florian provides and uses to keep you safe.
Each item has its own precise role in the safety chain. But the main thing is that on the day of the outing, you have nothing to worry about — Florian takes care of it all, from the PPE check to a full briefing. This page is simply here so you know.
The gear in detail
Six items, one safety chain
Each has its role. Together, they protect you at every moment of the outing.
The locking carabiner
It connects the belay system to your harness. Locked every time it's used — a systematic check.
The harness
The item that wraps around your waist and lets you tie in to the rope. Comfortable, adjustable, and tested to hold several hundred kilos.
The helmet
Essential head protection against falling rocks and impacts in the event of a fall. Non-negotiable in a rocky environment.
The lanyard & shock absorber
Specific to via ferrata. Two carabiners connected to a shock absorber that dissipates the energy of a fall.
The belay device
Lets you control the speed of your descent on the rope. Indispensable for hiking and abseiling and for descending a multi-pitch route.
