Hike + scrambles + abseil

Explore the hidden canyons

Hiking & abseiling combines an approach hike through an unspoilt canyon, short scrambles over little rock steps and abseil descents of 10 to 30 m. No experience required: Florian kits you out, talks you through the abseil on site and stays right beside you on every descent. It's the perfect activity for a refreshing family day out — children from age 5 love it.

Frequently asked questions — Hiking & Abseiling

Can my children really abseil at age 5?

Yes, at Verrières from age 5. The rock steps are suitable (10–15 m abseils), Florian always descends alongside the child, and the kit for little ones is sized for them. The proud smiles at the bottom say more than any explanation ever could.

Do I need to know how to swim?

No — our canyons are dry. This is hiking & abseiling, not aquatic canyoning. You won't have to jump into any pools. Just walking, a few small rock steps to climb down, and abseils on the cliff.

What gear should I bring?

All the safety gear is provided (helmet, harness, lanyard, descender, carabiners).

You bring: hiking shoes or closed trainers with good grip (no flip-flops), sports clothing (trousers or shorts), 1 L of water, a snack, a cap and sun cream. A small backpack is handy.

How long does it last and how many abseils are there?

A typical outing lasts 3 h (including the briefing) with between 3 and 5 abseils depending on the site. At Verrières, you build up through progressive abseils (10 m → 20 m → 25 m). At Pas de Soucy, the final abseil reaches up to 30 m.

Which site should I choose: Verrières or Pas de Soucy?

Verrières (Aveyron) is more accessible and more playful for children from age 5. Short approach, progressive rock steps, a wild canyon feel.

Pas de Soucy (Lozère) is more committing: a longer approach, taller rock steps, a more rugged, rocky atmosphere. Ideal for teens and adults after a bit more adventure.
